Lorenzo Davids could be a surprise inclusion in Paul Groves' squad when Bournemouth host Hartlepool.
The Cherries' deadline day signing has been working hard with physio Steve Hard to build up match fitness after an injury and could be named amongst the substitutes should he pass a late check.
Groves will be without goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan for up to six months and may have to bring in cover for Shwan Jalal.
The former Southend stopper suffered the injury in the final pre-season game of the summer against Bristol City.
Flahavan jarred his shoulder in a collision and despite missing the first two matches of the season has suffered a fresh setback after scans revealed further damage.
Groves may welcome back Charlie Daniels into his starting XI after a hamstring injury but Charlie Sheringham (foot), Frank Demouge (knee) and Stephen Purches (broken leg) remain sidelined.
Hartlepool will be without suspended defender Neil Austin at Bournemouth.
The full-back was sent off for two yellow cards in last week's home defeat to Carlisle and will serve a one-game ban, so Jack Baldwin is expected to return to the starting line-up.
Central defender Peter Hartley was forced off late on against Carlisle due to a calf injury, but is expected to resume alongside Sam Collins.
Pools boss Neale Cooper has no other new injury or suspension worries but is still without goalkeeper Andy Rafferty, who is sidelined with a knee injury, so Scott Flinders will continue.
Recent loan signing from Sunderland Craig Lynch is pushing for his first start after stepping off the bench against Carlisle, while teenager Luke James and Simon Walton are also hoping to feature.
