League One Review - Feb 3rd

The leadership of League One changed hands again with Oldham Athletic taking pole position with a single goal win over Tranmere Rovers at Boundary Park. The only goal came in the final few seconds of the game as Hall ensure that the home side kept all of the points. Oldham Athletic 1st, Tranmere Rovers 9th.

Scunthorpe United (2nd) face Bristol City (4th) on Monday evening, live in front of the Sky Sports cameras at Glanford Park.

Nottingham Forest were forced to endure a draw at Vallay Parade against Bradford City. Dyer had given the home side an 8th minute lead, which was cancelled out by Tyson just 2 minutes later. Lester gave the visitors an 18th minute lead, which was looking good to be the winner before Paynter popped up for an 89th minute equaliser. Bradford City 14th, Nottingham Forest 3rd.

Yeovil Town suffered just their 4th home defeat of the campaign as Millwall claimed the only goal of the game, and all 3 points with a strike from May in the 12th minute. Yeovil Town 5th, Millwall 17th.

If Swansea City miss out on a play-off place, it'll be down to their indifferent away record, which wasn't helped with their 7th away defeat of the campaign. Everything started well enough as Trundle put the Swans in to a 17th minute lead against Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road. Odejayi equalised 5 minutes before the break with Connor netting the eventual winner in the 67th minute. Cheltenham Town 21st, Swansea City 6th.

Blackpool suffered a rare home defeat against botton-of-the-table Brentford at Bloomfield Road as the Londoners ran out 3-1 winners. Frampton (13th min) and a brace from Kuffour (29th and 30th mins) helped Brentford to a 3-goal lead in the first half an hour. Blackpool claimed a consolation in the final few seconds from Vernon. Blackpool 7th, Brentford 23rd.

Doncaster Rovers suffered just their 2nd home defeat of the campaign, going down 2-1 to Carlise United. Coppinger had put the home side in the 3rd munite. Smith (56 mins) levelled with Hawley scoring the winner iin the 78th minute to claim all 3-points. Doncaster Rovers 8th, Carlisle United 10th.

Northampton Town continue to hover over the relegation zone as they slipped at home against Crewe Alexandra. Varney gave the visitors the lead in the 26th minute. Johnson levelled for the home side in the 55th minute but then saw Varney claim his, and Crewe's second of the match just 2 minutes later. Northampton Town 19th, Crewe Alexandra 12th.

Gillingham slipped up on their travels at the Galpharm Stadium, 3-1 to Huddersfield Town. Beckett and Booth got the home side off to a flying start with goals in the 3rd and 8th minutes respectively. Mulligan pulled one back in the 70th minute, only to see Booth net his second in the 83rd minute to complete the victory. Huddersfield Town 11th, Gillingham 13th.

Port Vale let a single goal lead slip at relegation haunted Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road. Gardner had given the home side the lead in the 12th minute. Lockwood levelled in the 68th minute, which then led to Ibehre scoring the winner in the 86th minute! Leyton Orient 20th, Port Vale 15th.

Chesterfield slipped at home for the 5th time this season. This allowed AFC Bournemouth to claim their first (!) away win of the season after Hayter headed home in the 52nd minute. Chesterfield 18th, AFC Bournemouth 22nd.

Finally from the Saturday action ..... Brighton & Hone Albion (16th) drew 0-0 with Rotherham United (24th) at Withdean.
