Stick By Us - Hollands

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Hollands is quoted as saying: "Everyone associated with the club was disappointed with the result. We know losing 1-0 at home against 10 men is bad but we've come down a league and I think we're finding it difficult to grind out results. But we need the fans to stick by us and not boo the players because that isn't the right way to go about it. It makes it more difficult when the fans get on your back because players tend to start shelling the ball forward and I thought we were better when we got it down and played a bit. I thought we created a few chances, maybe not as many as we would have liked, but things don't always go to plan. They are within their rights to have a go but if you were to ask any of the players, they would prefer people to speak to them and say what they feel rather than boo them. We don't like losing as much as the fans don't like to see us lose. But booing and chanting what a load of rubbish' doesn't do anything for players' confidence. Maybe it would have helped if they had kept 11 men on the pitch because anyone who watches football knows how hard it is to get past 10 men as they camp inside their own half. It wasn't our day but it wasn't through us not trying. We've got to pick ourselves up and go again next week. The manager was frustrated and so were the players and the fans".
