The game of the day came at the New Meadow as Shrewsbury Town entertained Wycombe Wanderers. The league leaders stole the points when Harrold nipped in to score the only goal of the game in the 55th minute to extend the Chairboys lead at the top to 9 points. Shrewsbury Town 6th, Wycombe Wanderers 1st.

Bury came unstuck on the south coast as AFC Bournemouth bounced back to winning ways at Dean Court. Igoe (39 mins) and Partington (43 mins) stung their visitors just before the break to claim the points. AFC Bournemouth 23rd, Bury 2nd.

Brentford were held by Gillingham at Preistfield as both sides had to settle for a share of the points. MacDonald gave the London side the lead in the 28th minute with Jackson levelling in the 60th minute. Gillingham 8th, Brentford 3rd.

Exeter City staked their claim to a play-off place with an emphatic 4-1 win over rivals Rochdale at St James's Park. A first half brace from Basham in the 16th and 31st minutes - the latter come from the penalty spot was followed after the break with a brace from McAllister in the 84th and 87th minute. Dale could only respond through Keltie in the 90th minute, from the penalty spot. Exeter City 5th, Rochdale 9th.

With teams around them failing to win, Darlington missed the opportunity at The Arena to jump in to the automatic promotion places as they were held by Barnet. Hatch gave the home side an 8th minute lead, with O'Flynn levelling 11 minutes later. Hatch netted again in the 25th minute only to see Yakubu level for a share of the points in the 76th minute. Darlington 7th, Barnet 20th.

Dagenham & Redbridge seem to score goals for fun away from home with 4 more against Macclesfield at Moss Rose. Benson and Taiwo netted in the 4th and 7th minutes to give the Daggers a flying start. Benson doubled his tally in the 19th minute with Saunders completing the scoring in the 48th minute. Macclesfield 14th, Dagenham & Redbridge 10th.

Aldershot Town had to come from behind at The Recreation Ground to deny Grimsby Town their 2nd win of the season. Kalala and Hegarty gave the visitors the lead with goals in the 2nd and 39th minutes. A brace of penalties from Davies in the 49th and 75th minutes salvaged a point for the Hampshire side. Aldershot Town 11th, Grimsby Town 21st.

Lincoln City calimed their 4th away win of the season with a single goal win over Notts County at Meadow Lane. Patulea scored the only goal of the game in the 32nd minute. Notts County 17th, Lincoln City 12th.

Chesterfield inflicted Port Vale's 7th home defeat of the season as Downes netted the only goal of the game in the 54th minute at Vale Park. Port Vale 15th, Chesterfield 13th.

Luton Town and Morecambe had to be content with a point at Kenilworth Road as the Hatters edge closer to a break even position where points are concerned. Spillane gave the home side a 51st minute lead while Carlton levelled just 6 minutes later. Luton Town 24th, Morcambe 16th.

Rotherham United got back to winning ways with their 4th win on the road on their visit to Livingstone Road against Accrington Stanley. A brace from Burchill in the 6th (a penalty) and 11th minutes gave the Millers a great start. Procter pulled one back in the 33rd minute only to see Broughton make sure of the win in the 88th minute. Accrington Stanley 19th, Rotherham United 22nd.

Finally, Bradford City (4th) and Chester City (18th) could only draw 0-0 at Valley Parade.
