Manager Eddie Howe was quoted after the match as saying: "I thought we were very good with the ball and dominated the ball for the majority of the game and against a team like Watford, who try to do that to you, it's no mean feat. You compare this to the two games we had against them previously, I thought it was a lot tighter and swung in our favour, so it shows that we've improved. We've created a number of chances. Even in the first half we had two or three really gilt edged opportunities but we've got done with a sucker-punch right on half-time, which was a killer blow for us. But the response from the players was very good in the second half and we should have won the game comfortably".
