PLAYERPLEDGE RELAUNCHED FOR THE NEW SEASON

Last updated : 23 July 2005 By Nick Douch
Although only 51 participants joined Playerpledge last season, it still raised close to £6,000 for Playershare; not only that, because there was a reasonably predictability about the inflows, it enabled the directors to plan their cash flow ahead, which in turn meant that we were able to support Sean’s team building even when the funds were not immediately available.

It is not surprising, therefore, that we are re-launching Playerpledge for this season. It is equally unsurprising that we want the Exiles to be one of the first groups to hear this; Exiles were a major source of Playerpledge participants last season, and we hope for even better things from you this year!!

The scheme is pretty much unchanged; the pledgor commits to paying a given amount of money for every goal the team scores, the number of points gained, the number of clean sheets or the number of goals scored by a given player (presumably, but not necessarily, their favourite). Better still, many participants chose to combine some or all of these categories. To make administration that much easier, the minimum that can be pledged in each category is 50p.

We thought last season that we had covered all the bases, but we reckoned without the ingenuity of AFCB fans. A number of specific pledges were made – for example, there was a pledge for the number of penalty saves that Neil made and for the number of games that Big Fletch didn’t play (you either love him or hate him!!). Needless to say we were happy to accommodate all such peccadilloes – and will be pleased to do so again this season – just let us know.

If possible, it is great if we can have an e-mail address because it makes contact easier, but if you don’t have one, don’t let that stop you. We’ll always put up with any inconvenience for your money!!

An application form is available by clicking on the link, and when completed should be returned to Peter Curry. His address is: 65a Woolsbridge Road, Ashley Heath, Ringwood, BH24 2 LX.

We have no specific target for the number we hope will join this year – but 250 has a nice “round” feel about it!!
