Season's Preview - AFC Bournemouth's View

Last updated : 26 July 2004 By Andy Burton
1) How did you fare last season? Best moment, worst moment etc.
Bournemouth finished just off the play.
Best moment? The 6-0 demolition of Wrexham when Jamie Hayter scored the third goal of his record breaking hat trick.
Worst moment? The 1-5 drubbing at home to Tranmere!!

2) How do you think you'll do this season? Hopes, final position.
A top-10 finish would be good, if not actually in the play-off positions.

3) What's your squad like, new signings, etc?
Only one new signing at the moment, the pacey Dani Rodrigues as he was out of contract.

4) Which youngster will make the biggest impression in your team this season?
Alan Connell - if he stays fit for long enough.

5) What's your manager like and will he still be there at the end of the season?
Sean O'Driscoll is an understated manager, always gets the best from players, always able to find players who can do a good job even though we have no money. I fully expect him to be at Dean Court in 10 years time!!

6) Are you happy with your Chairman/Backroom staff?
The Chairman and backroom staff are excellent at Dean Court. Ever helpful and very approachable.

7) Which team do you want to beat the most and why?
All of them - cos we do!! Would like another double over Sheffield Weds just to teach them why they are in League One/Division 2/old Third Division. Also Torquay as we never seem to beat them under any circumstances!!

8) Predict your champions and runner up, the 4 Play-Off teams and the 4 to go down.
Sheffield Wednesday should walk the Division and Stockport County to go with them. As for the play-offs, Bristol City (again), AFC Bournemouth (I'll be brave), Hull City, Swindon Town. To go down, Doncaster Rovers (one promotion too far for them?), Torquay United, Milton Keynes Dons (they don’t deserve to be in the League) and Peterborough United, but it’s going to be a close call.
