Away Meeting Places

Last updated : 16 February 2003 By Clive Loader
These are the suggested meeting pubs for the away games for the first part of the 2002/03 season. It likely that several Exiles will be meeting at the pubs listed below. Where known I have given a full Postcode. Using this, those with internet access can get a map of the location using www.multimap.com

or a similar site. If you can't find us in the nominated pub then a call to 07798 810386 will probably track some of us down.

01/03/2003 Bury
Rose & Crown
, 36 Manchester Old Road BL9 0TR (off A56). The A56 is the main road south of Bury town centre towards the ground, Manchester Old Road runs just off of it to the west. The pub is about 5 minutes walk from Gigg Lane. A free house with excellent selection of real ales. Food is not always available on Saturdays (although it was the last time we played there).

04/03/2003 Rushden & Diamonds
Oliver Twist, 96 High St, Irthlingborough, NN9 5PX. Nene Park is not very close to Rushden, the nearest town/village being Irthlingborough. This pub is about a 15 minute walk uphill into the village and serves a couple of real ales and food.

15/03/2003 York City
Maltings, Tanners Moat, YO1 1HU (www.maltings.co.uk). Three3 minutes from York railway station and about 15 minutes walk to Bootham Crescent. Former Exiles Pub of the Season. Excellent real ale pub with good value traditional pub food (real chips!).

29/03/2003 Hartlepool
The Tavern, 56 Church Street, TS24 7DX. Very close to Hartlepool station and less than 10 minutes walk to Victoria Park. Enterprise Inns pub with reasonable selection of real ales and pub food on match days.

05/04/2003 Scunthorpe
The Honest Lawyer
, 70 Oswald Road, DN15 7PG. Popular real ale pub near to station (but about 2 miles from Glanford Park). Food limited to sandwiches.

19/04/2003 Hull City
Details to follow when we know if Hull have moved into their new ground.

03/05/2003 Carlisle
Howard Arms, 107 Lowther Street, CA3 8ED. Next to the Lanes shopping centre. About 10-15 minutes walk to Brunton Park. Characterful old-fashioned pub serving Theakston’s beer. Food served at lunchtime.
