Going To Southend? READ THIS FIRST

The RMT union announced the result of a ballot that will see all London Underground services being withdrawn due to strike action from midday on New Years Eve for a period of 24 hours.

With a 1pm kick off at Roots Hall, we are not going to be affected (too much) as far as the outward journey is concerned, but getting back will be more of a challenge.

To get back to Waterloo, for example, there is the number 26 bus, which runs from a stop adjacent to Liverpool Street Station to Waterloo. The journey time takes about 25 minutes.

For other destinations, please check the London Underground web site, and use their journey planner.

On top of that, if you're travelling to/from London Waterloo on a train that normally goes through Woking, please be aware that services from:
- Weymouth/Bournemouth trains are being diverted via Fareham and Havant.
- Portsmouth services are being diverted between Guildford and Surbiton.
- Yeovil/Salisbury services are being terminated at Basingstoke.
More information on the work in the Woking area, please check the South West Trains web site for more details.
So please allow extra travel time in getting to and from Southend on New Years Eve!
