A Dean Court Farce

As we all know, there is a proposal on the table for the existing Board to sell the Club to a 3-man Consortium. Two of that consortium are members of the existing Board! CONFLICT No1!

Now the Chairman of the Community Mutual, Derek Borthwick, has been interviewed in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, just at the stage when the CM are in negotiation with the Consortium about the proposed changes. Borthwick is quoted as saying: "These guys are very, very enthusiastic and I honestly believe they have got the best interests of the club at heart. I don't think they are quick-profit merchants and they seem very genuine. Of course, this is my own opinion and the CM members will ultimately have the final say when we meet to discuss the proposals. What some fans are frightened of is that these people will take control of the club and the fans will no longer have any input. But according to Jeff Mostyn, the CM is an integral part of the club and he doesn't want to see anything that reduces the CM's interest. So as far as I'm concerned, they are putting their money where their mouths are. So far we've had some very positive negotiations with the consortium, but one of the stumbling blocks is that they only want one CM representative, but we've asked for two. I actually think that would benefit the board. We are only there to help - just the same as they are. It is not like the CM would suddenly be calling the shots with the consortium's money because they would always have the majority, but at least our opinions would be heard". And presumably ignored if our views didn't match up with theirs!

Surely CONFLICT No2 and the negotiating position of the CM totally undermined?

You might be a nice guy Derek, but it's time to step down as CM Chair.
