The statement reads: "At the board meeting on Monday, chairman Abdul Jaffer informed the board of directors of his decision to resign as acting chairman and also from the board of directors. During his tenure, Abdul has introduced several potential investors to the club, all of whom expressed an interest in the club. During the past few weeks, a consortium led by Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly has tabled a formal bid - this being the only formal bid for the club. With the EGM at the club scheduled to take place during the week commencing March 5 2007, the board of directors have asked chief executive Laurence Jones to manage the day-to-day affairs of the club with the full support of the board. The board of directors would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Abdul for the outstanding work, huge commitment and financial contribution that he has given and taking the club to a position where there is a very real hope for the future".
