AGM Notes

Last updated : 03 April 2006 By Bournemouth Co-Ordinator
The meeting was opened by Chairman Peter Phillips who took us through where we are today as a Club:
- Sale & Leaseback has gone through which has given the Club:
- a huge breathing space
- eliminated the expensive short term loans being paid over a longer term
- averted the threat of closure from the Inland Revenue
- the appointment of Lawrence Jones is making a huge difference to the Club
- disappointment that we were out of the Cups so early in the campaign
- playershare down in contributions

But the club is in good shpe today, better than we've been for many years!

The Junior Cherries id the most profitable part of the Club today!

The new CM Board was making a real difference too.

The Club can now invest in the infrastructure of the Football Club:
- the room above the Cherry Tree will be used by the Supporters Club
- this room will also be the largest restaurant in Bournemouth (capable of seating 300)

Peter Phillips is very optimistic over the future of the Football Club.

Current season ticket sales are at record levels at this stage of the season.

It was then announced that Stanley Cohen was stepping down as President of the Football Club.

Moving on to the resolutions.
1. The Accounts
There was a brief summary of the accounts from the period ending May 2004 to the period ending May 2005.

At this point the meeting became controversial when John Piper, of Cherry Entertainments, produced an invoice, which generated a number of questions and accusations aimed the the Board of the Football Club. Piper called for Peter Phillips to be suspended, claiming that he had sent evidence to the DTI, Dorset Police and Inland Revenue. The response from Peter Phillips was swift, and to the point, saying that the accusations were 'codswallop', adding that if any of the accusations were made in public, then legal action would be taken.

It was then pointed out that if matters had been referred on elsewhere, then further discussion at the AGM would be sub judice.

A vote of shareholders passed the accounts.

2. Peter Phillips was voted in as Chairman.

3. Abdul Jaffer was voted in as Vice Chairman.

4. Derek Borthwick was voted on to the Board.

5. Grant Thornton was voted to be next years auditors.

Any Questions/Comments?
A shareholder challenge to find 1000 shareholders each to pay £300 to help raise extra funds.

Elton John Concert
Would raise somewhere between £60k and £100k for the Club this Summer with anything up to 20,000 people attending.
It was also pointed that as Elton John is a friend of 'local girl' Madonna, whether the Club had considered asking her to invest at Dean Court!

Hotel
Plans were at an advanced stage to submit a planning application for the South End of the ground.

East Stand
I asked when the East Stand would be completed with respect to the disabled platform. The response that was the lift company who have been paid, went bust after the last installment had been paid. It is hoped that the viewing platform may be ready this Summer.

England Internationals
It was commented that the FA thought that the new stadium was a magnificent facility and had no hesitation in awarding the England U19 game on Easter Monday. It is hoped that the game will attract a crowd of 8-9000.

The meeting concluded with Peter Phillips asking supporters not to "stop listening to the knockers, whether they are writing in the Echo, or on the various web sites".
