Alcohol Abuse Will Not Be Tolerated - Quinn

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, manager Jimmy Quinn is quoted as saying: "I've had a couple of emails from fans showing their concern about a drinking culture at the club. I've had a word with the chief executive and that just will not be tolerated in any way, shape or form. I'm not saying players - we're talking about grown men - will not go out and drink. But if they're going out drinking to the extent where it's going to affect their health or affect their performance levels we will not hesitate as a club, if we've got the evidence, to get rid of them. That's the bottom line. If players are going out drinking and drawing attention to themselves, you're a footballer 24 hours a days these days unfortunately and we're supposed to be athletes, so the less alcohol we drink the better it is and the fitter you are. So I will not condone that at all. If I found out that any of my players were out and they were drinking and I get wind of it then there will be severe consequences. We're in a fitness business where results are paramount, particularly with the position we're in. It will not be tolerated and if any player has got an issue with that, they can come and see me and I'll show them the door because I won't put up with it".
