Anderton Signs

It has been announced that Darren Anderton has signed a years extension to his current contract at Dean Court. He is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "I've enjoyed it so much this season that there was never any question of me not staying on for another year, providing the club wanted me. They said they did so I was delighted to sign. It's going to be a fresh start for everybody next season. The manager will have a whole pre-season to work with the players and I'm sure it will be his team so it will be interesting and hopefully exciting. One of the main reasons I'm staying is because we've got a great set of lads here and hopefully most of them will be staying as well".

Manager Kevin Bond is quoted in the same article as saying: "It's terrific news for everybody connected with the football club that Darren has agreed to stay for another year. I think he's had a particularly good season and got better as the year has gone on. He has fully justified having another year. I think he's keen to stay so I'm really delighted to have him signed up. Bond added: "He's just got that quality. He doesn't give the ball away, and, nine times out of 10, he makes the right decision when he's on the ball. There is no getting away from quality and he's got exceptional quality on the ball and has been a calming influence for us".
