Teenager Carl Preston has been elevated to first team status having impressed in recent youth and reserve fixtures.

The Hamworthy teenager will be joining the squad for the stay up north for the games against Rochdale and Blyth Spartans.

Jimmy Quinnis quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying about the second year youth teamer: "Carl has certainly got the potential to become a very good player. He's very direct and has got pace to his game. But what I like about him more than anything is that when he gets in position to cross, he puts really good quality balls into the box and that's a dying art. Without putting too much pressure on the lad, I've got really high hopes for him and he's impressed every time I've seen him. A lot of the lads played well against Plymouth but he was very exciting to watch. Although their team was mostly youngsters, he got past them as if they were standing still. I thought that if he's done well then let's reward him and bring him with the first team. It could be an option to put him on the bench for the cup tie where he might go on and change the game. He's got to impress to try to earn a contract. I want us to try to produce two or three kids each year that we sign and give a chance to. We want to be seen to reward these lads. If they're good enough, they've got a chance".
