After an indifferent season when much was expected of Barrett, the central defender is hoping to re-claim his place in the Cherries starting line up for the new season.
Barrett, a signing from Crystal Palace 12 months ago, is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "I have played enough games and know what I can do. I am sure Paul and Shaun know what I can do as well. I will get my head down and work extremely hard during pre-season. I will give it everything and, hopefully, the manager will like that and we can go from there. Paul and Shaun have come in and we are fully behind them. They will have new ideas and a philosophy on the game they want us to carry through. It is a fresh start for everybody".
