Bartley Didn't Mean Tackle

Cherries midfielder, Marvin Bartley, has expressed regret at the tackle on Stewart Drummond which saw him pick up an automatic 3-match ban following a straight red card.

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Bartley is quoted as saying: "I haven’t seen the tackle again, but everyone knows I never go out to hurt people. I go out to win the ball and from time to time I will catch the man. I was frustrated that we were losing the game, but that had nothing to do with the challenge. I would have made it whether we were three nil up or three nil down – I go out to win the |ball and that’s just the way I play. It’s a massive blow to me personally. Now I’ve got to sit out the next three games when I just want to get out there and help the team. The squad is small as it is and we have three games now in quick succession so it’s not good for the team. But there is nothing I can do about it now. I’ll just have to stay fit and work hard until I get my chance again".
