Bartley Wants Starting Place

Having missing the latter part of last season through injury, Marvin Bartley is fighting to regain his place in the Cherries first team ahead of the new season, but realises that the Bury match on Saturday might be too soon for him.

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Bartley is quoted as saying: "I enjoyed being back because it had been a long time since I had last played. I had been hoping to be fit for the start of pre-season but I'm playing catch-up now. I'll have to see how I react but I'm probably going to need a few more games. The first game of the season maybe a bit too soon for me but we'll have to wait and see. Training is different to matches and it's going to be tough. But I will be training hard between now and Saturday because I want to get back as soon as I can. At the moment, I just don't think my fitness would last 90 minutes at a frantic pace but I'll be trying my best".
