Blissett Sounds Note Of Caution For Pitman

Luther Blissett, who played for the Cherries between 1988 and 1991, sounds a cautionary note to current Cherries striker Brett Pitman, ahead of any potential offers being made for his services.

Blissett is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "Brett has got a good chance and it will be interesting to see him in the league above next season. He knows where the back of the net is and is a good finisher. We can all say he can do this and that but you would need to see him in stronger company week in, week out to see how he adapts. If he continues progressing, he will be a great asset to the club. The problem then would be trying to keep him because the big boys would come looking. If a big club were to come calling, it would have to be a club where he believed he could actually do something and make a real contribution. You don’t want to be a bit-part player, you want to know that you will get a fair crack of the whip. Those are the decisions you have to make because the financial ones take care of themselves if the big clubs come looking. As a player, you have to make sure the club is right for you and one that will give you the best chance to progress and become the player you want to be".
