Brentford Reaction

Speaking after the match, Sean O'Driscoll was quoted as saying on the Clubs Official Web Site: "The win makes the Port Vale defeat more poignent. It was a game we should have won and we didn't play as well as we should have done in the second half. We've been working on that and it's something we've been trying to put right all week. It was a good test for the lads after losing Josh so early and they passed it with flying colours. The squad is flexible, it has to be. The change was something we had a plan for anyway as Josh was diagnosed with tonsilitus on Friday and was a doubt so in a way it was a blessing in disguise. We scored goals, could have scored a lot more and shut them out at the other end. We could have had three or four and had the game out of sight. They've only been beaten once at home all season and we came out on top. We've plugged away, the lads have a never-say-die attitude and they've worked for each other all week. We've hardly won a header, but if you look at the game we haven't had to. We've controlled the game doing the things we're good at and haven't needed to".

The Brentford manager, Martin Allen, admitted that they were 'mentally shattered' after the defeat, and went oj to say: "I prepare the team, I pick the team and so it's my responsibility what goes on on the field ..... We never got hold of the ball or put them under any pressure. It was a poor display but I'm not going to criticise any one area because we are a team and we win together and lose together. The players are down at the moment but they are highly-driven individuals and they will bounce back".
