Speaking to BBCi, manager Sean O'Driscoll is quoted as saying: "I thought we were in control for the first half, but Brighton changed things in the second half and they were the better side. We had enough possession in the first half to be comfortably ahead, but we need to be better in the attacking 18-yard box, and to defend better. We've lost four quality players, but we've got to come to terms with that".

For Brighton, Mark McGhee was quoted after the match as saying: "He was excellent - he's a very experienced player. He knows Guy Butters from Gillingham, and our boys are good at integrating players. He's definitely an option".
