Burnley Reaction - Cherries I

Manager Eddie Howe was disappointed with the draw with Burnley, being quoted after the match on BBC Radio Solent as saying: "I felt we had the majority of the chances. Franno hit the bar at the end and Yann had a header that’s just gone wide and there were a few other moments. I think we had the best moments of the game. We got the goal and you did hope we could catch them hunting an equaliser, but their goal has come out of nothing. I don’t think we really switched off. It was just one of those things, it took a deflection off the cross and fell nicely for the boy. I felt we defended well and I could see the game finishing 1-0, and everyone patting everyone on the back saying what a great performance and a great defensive performance we had put in, because it was. It was a game of few chances and we are frustrated as we felt we should have won it".

On the state of the pitch and the impact that had on the Cherries game plan: "We planned for it and we knew the pitch would be in a bad state if the game was on. We adapted our tactics and I don’t apologise for that. By playing 4-4-2 we tried to stop their direct balls forward by playing with two strikers and we also tried to get down the sides of their centre halves, purely due to the conditions, so the crowd unfortunately saw a game which lacked the usual quality. We usually play a lot better football than that but I felt we had to adapt".
