Bury Reaction - Cherries

After the match, manager Jimmy Quinn was quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "It was a great performance from start to finish. When you consider we had three players suspended and Shaun Cooper injured as well, it was a bit of a makeshift team. But after the disappointment of the other night, I made sure, with Jason (Tindall), that as much as people were on a downer, that we did our best to lift the players. We did a couple of days' hard work and I'm absolutely delighted with the performance. We had to play a couple of young lads out there and I thought Joe Partington was outstanding. Young Carl Preston is only 17 and he'll remember that day for a long time, winning on his debut. I personally got beaten on my debut, but he'll remember that with the reception he got when he came off. I thought it was important to do that so that he got a good round of applause. He's a tremendous young player. Brian Flynn (Wales under-19 coach) rang me about four weeks ago to say that when Joe played for the Welsh under-19s he was absolutely outstanding and he scored a goal as well. He's been out of the picture a little bit because the older players have been in there, but from what I've seen in the past week and today, he's more than capable of coping at this level. I can't thank the players enough - it was a terrific performance against one of the form teams in the league".
