Carlisle United Reaction - Cherries

Assistant manager, Jason Tindall, was quoted after the match as saying in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, following the half time introduction of Michael Symes against the Cumbrians: "We’ve been struggling recently for centre-forwards and Michael had only been training for the past week or so and only on a full-contact basis for the past couple of days. It was always going to be a risky decision to put him on at any time and that was the reason we didn’t start with him. Thankfully for us, he did well when he came on and didn’t aggravate his injury. We were very pleased with the three points because Carlisle are a very good side. We were disappointed with the first-half performance because it was scrappy and there weren’t too many chances. But we came in at 0-0 and it gave us an opportunity to change things at half-time. The lads deserve a lot of credit because they performed extremely well in the second half".

The players needed no further motivation than words attributed to the Carlisle United boss, Greg Abbott, who was alledgedly quoted as saying that the Cherries had a "soft underbelly defensively". On that, Jason Tindall was quoted as saying: "Sometimes, you have got to try to use things like that as motivation for your own players. We have conceded goals in one or two games and are disappointed with that. But I don’t think you can accuse any of our players of having a soft underbelly. We’ve got some great characters and are a team of winners. I think they proved that against Carlisle. Carlisle are a good club and a good team and their record shows that. We were just happy to keep a clean sheet and win the game. That’s all that matters".
