Last seasons nearly-but not quites, Watford, dished out a harsh lesson to AFC Bournemouth in what it means to be a Championship club as the Cherries were on the wrong end of a 6-1 drubbing at Vicarage Road. It started fairly well for the Cherries as Grabban (30th min) cancelled out a Angella (13th min) strike, but after the restart it was one way traffic on the Cherries goal as Angella completed his brace (53rd min), Deeney bagging a hat-trick (56th, 88th and 92nd mins), leaving McGugan tobag his goal in the 66th minute, leaving the Cherries to lick their wounds. Watford 1st, AFC Bournemouth 15th.

Blackpool left it late to bag their win over Barnsley at Bloomfield Road as Wiseman put past his own keeper in the 94th minute. Blackpool 2nd, Barnsley 24th.

Nottingham Forest also left it late to bag their win to maintain a 100% start to the season as Henderson bagged the only goal of the game in the 92nd minute against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. Blackburn Rovers 17th, Nottingham Forest 3rd.

Burnley started their campaign on the road with a win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Ings and Vokes put the visitors in to a 2-goal lead with strikes in the 33rd and 38th minutes, while Prutton bagged what proved to be a consolation in the 71st minute. Sheffield Wednesday 20th, Burnley 4th.

Derby County had to come from behind against Brighton & Hove Albion at The Amex to complete a miserable week for the Seagulls, even though Ulloa gave the home side the lead in the 17th minute. A brace from Martin in the 27th and 47th minute turned the game in County's favour. Derby also won the yellow card count 5-3! Brighton & Hove Albion 19th, Derby County 5th.

Pre-season favourites, Queens Park Rangers, had to settle for a point against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium. Vaughan have Town the lead in the 35th minute, only to see Hoilett cancel that out just 3 minutes later. Huddersfield Town 18th, Queens Park Rangers 6th.

Another of the pre-season favourites, Reading, had to come from behind to salvage a point, theirs coming against Bolton Wanderers at The Reebok Stadium. Pratley gave the Trotters the lead in the 14th minute, with Blackman levelling from the penalty spot for the Royals in the 51st minute. Bolton Wanderers 16th, Reading 7th.

Leicester City (9th) & Leeds United (8th) played out a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Ipswich Town managed to chalk up their first win of the season as they managed to see off Millwall off at Portman Road as goals from Lowry (og - 63rd min), Smith (70th min), Anderson (83rd min) sent the Londoners packing. Ipswich Town 11th, Milwall 23rd.

Middlesbrough managed to pick themselves up from their Capital One Cup disappointment with a single goal win over Charlton Athletic at The Valley. Jutkiewicz scored the only goal of the game to claim the win in the 72nd minute. Charlton Athletic 21st, Middlesbrough 12th.

Playing their first home match in the second tier, Yeovil Town were up against Birmingham City at Huish Park, where the home side were undone by a Burn strike in the 48th minute. Yeovil Town 14th, Birmingham City 13th.

The match between Wigan Athletic (10th) and Doncaster Rovers (22nd) was postponed as Wigan Athletic were otherwise engaged in the Community Shield at Wembley.
