They might have had a weekend off, but Leicester City were back at full throttle for the Premiership as they brushed Barnsley aside at Oakwell as the Foxes ran out 3-0 winners against the Tykes. A brace from Vardy (21st and 62nd minutes) as well as a Drinkwater goal in the 58th minute proved to be all too much for the struggers on their own patch. Barnsley 23rd, Leicester City 1st.
With Burnley not playing until Wednesday, it gave a chance to the chasing pack to catch up, which they failed to do. Derby County could only manage a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers at the iPro Stadium. Derby County 3rd, Bolton Wanderers 16th.
Meanwhile Queens Park Rangers slipped 2-0 at the Amex against Brighton & Hove Albion. Goals from Ulloa (77th min) and Ward (86th min) sealed victory for the Seagulls to boost their play-off ambitions. Brighton & Hove Albion 7th, Queens Park Rangers 4th.
Nottingham Forest are just about holind their own in the play-off places, but will have to step it up a gear to make sure of being involved in the end of season mix. A Henderson goal 10 minutes from time helped salvage a point against Middlesbrough at the Riverside after Carayol out the home side ahead in the 53rd minute. Middlesbrough 12th, Nottingham Forest 5th.
Just as well Championship football is safe for next season, otherwise Leeds United fans might be a tad concerned after another home defeat, this time at the hands of Reading. The Royals gained a 4-goal cushion thanks to goals from McCleary (25th min), Drenthe (46th min), Blackman (48th min) and Robson-Kanu (54th min) before the home side decided to try and make a game of it, hitting back through Smith (63rd min) and Auston (64th min). Leeds United 13th, Reading 6th.
Ipswich Town were made to work for their single goal win over Yeovil Town at Huish Park as a single Berra goal in the 40th minute proved to be enough for the Suffolk side to take the points home. Yeovil Town 22nd, Ipswich Town 9th.
Doncaster Rovers were the only side at the foot of the table to record a victory as they managed to overcome Watford at the Keepmoat to bag a 2-1 win. Brown gave Donny the lead in the 24th minute, only to see Anya level in the 68th minute. Just as the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Sharp popped up with the winner in the 92nd minute. Doncaster Rovers 20th, Watford 11th.
Finally Blackpool managed to record their first win in 19 attempts as they managed to hold off Millwall in a relegation 6-pointer at Bloomfield Road as Fuller scored the only goal of the game in the 14th minute to lift some of the gloom for the Tangerines - not the result does any favours for the Lions. Blackpool 18th, Millwall 21st.
