Undoubtedly the game of the day came at Turf Moor where Burnley took on Leicester City. The Foxes took a massive stride towards the Premiership with a 2-0 win over their nearest rivals, denting the Clarets undefeated run at home. Goals from Nugent (35th min) and Wood (78th min) sealed the points to send the away fans more than a bit happy. Burnley 2nd, Leicester City 1st.

Burnley's defeat opened the door for the chasing pack to close the gap. Queens Park Rangers were held by Blackpool at Loftus Road who were shocked when Goodwillies put the Tangerines ahead in the 11th minute. Hoilett rescued a point for the home side with 12 minutes left on the watch. Queens Park Rangers 3rd, Blackpool 19th.

Derby County managed to record a decent 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic at the iPro Stadium to maintain their push for a play-off place. Goals from Bamford (18th min), Bamford (38th min) and Martin (84th min) proved to be more than enough to seal the points. Derby County 4th, Charlton Athletic 21st.

Wigan Athletic left it late to salvage a point against near neighbours, Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok. Jutkiewicz gave the Trotters the lead in the 31st minute, leaving Powell to bag an 88th minute equaliser for the Latics. Bolton Wanderers 17th, Wigan Athletic 5th.

Reading failed to win at home (again) as they were held by Huddersfield Town at the Madj Stad. A Wells strike in the 4th minute was cancelled out by a Pogrebynak penalty 3 minutes later. Reading 6th, Huddersfield Town 16th.

Tucked in just behind the play-off places are Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest who went head-to-head at Portman Road. Collins gave managerless Foret the lead in the 4th minute, but that was cancelled out by Murphy in the 78th minute. Ipswich Town 7th, Nottingham Forest 8th.

Brighton & Hove Albion continue to faulter at home, their latest slip coming against Middlesbrough who made the long journey south all the worth while for their supporters. Goals for Adomah (65th min) and Graham (86th min) sealed the points for Boro. Brighton & Hove Albion 9th, Middlesbrough 13th.

AFC Bournemouth continued their recent fine run of form with a 4-2 win over Birmingham City, who continue to struggle in front of their own fans. The Cherries raced in to a 4-goal lead through Ritchie (13th min), Grabban (20th & 28th min pen) and Harte (52nd min) before a Macheda (57th & 73rd mins) respectability back to the scoreline for the Blues. Birmingham City 20th, AFC Bournemouth 10th.

Watford racked up an impressive away win at Sheffield Wednesday, winning 4-1 at Hillsborough. Goals from Angella (5th min), McGugan (23rd min), and a brace from Deeney (49th & 51st mins) gave the Hornets a 4-goal cushion before Afobe pulled one back for the Owls. Sheffield Wednesday 14th, Watford 11th.

Millwall were denied a valuable 3-points by Blackburn Rovers at The Den. A Williams penalty for the Lions in the 57th minute, following the dismissal of Hanley for the visitors, got the home side off the mark. Keane levelled for the Lancashire side in the 65th minute. Jackson looked to have sealed victory with an 88th minute penalty only to see a vital win snatched away as King levelled in the 92nd minute. Millwall 23rd, Blackburn Rovers 12th.

A miserable weeks for Leeds United didn't get any better as near neighbours Doncaster Rovers bagged an all important win to boost their survival chances. Cotterill (23rd min) and Sharp on the strok of half time gave Donny a nice cushion going in at the break. McCormack pulled one back in the 62nd minute, but it wasn't enough to inspire a comeback. Leeds United 15th, Doncaster Rovers 18th.

A relegation 6-pointer was played out at Huish Park in which Barnsley ran out handsome 4-1 winners against Yeovil Town. O'Grady gave the Tykes the lead in the 53rd minute, with Lawrence doubling the lead in the 64th minute. Ayling pulled one back for the Glovers in the 70th minute, but it wasn't enough as O'Grady (75th min) and Jennings (78th min) put the nail in the home sides coffin to give the Yorkshire side hope of another season in the Championship. Yeovil Town 24th, Barnsley 22nd.
