Burnley managed to open up a gap at the top as they managed to sneak a single goal victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Arfield popped up with the only goal of the game in the 80th minute. Ipswich Town 12th, Burnley 1st.
Loosing ground are Queens Park Rangers who let points slip at London neighbours, Millwall who managed to secure a 2-2 draw at The Den. Kranjcar gave QPR the lead in the 26th minute, with McDonald levelling in the 51st minute. Austin restored the visitors advantage in the 69th minyte only to see Easter level in the 92nd minute. Millwall 18th, Queens Park Rangers 2nd.
Leicester City made up some ground on 2nd place as they managed to see off Huddersfield Town at the King Power Stadium. Vardy gave the Foxes the lead in the 11th minute as both sides then traded own goals with Gerrard putting past his own keeper in the 38th minute to double the home sides advantage, while Konchesky returned the compliment for the Terriers in the 67th minute. Leicester City 3rd, Huddersfield Town 14th.
Nottingham Forest were left to rue missed opportunities as they had to settle for a point against AFC Bournemouth at The City Ground. Lansbury scored a wonder goal in the 41st minute, only to see Pugh level in the 91st minute to bag a share of the spoils for the Cherries. Nottingham Forest 4th, AFC Bournemouth 10th.
Blackpool managed to get back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over neighbours Wigan Athletic at Bloomfield Road, as Ince bagged the only goal of the game in the 24th minute. Blackpool 5th, Wigan Athletic 13th.
Reading bagged the biggest win in the Championship out of the Saturday games with a 4-1 win over Doncaster Rovers at the Medjeski Stadium. Guthrie gave the Royals the lead in the 11th minute, with Robinson levelling for Donny 20 minutes later. After that, the home side ran away with it as Le Fondre (39th min), McClearly (80th min) and Pogrebnyak (97th min) did more than enough to seal the win. Reading 6th, Doncaster Rovers 17th.
A resurgent Derby County managed to bag the points against Watford at Vicarage Road. Ward gave the Rams the lead in the 8th minute as the Hornets responded just 4 minutes later through Forestieri. Not to be outdone Ward restored the visotors' advantage on the stroke of half time. McGugan levelled for the Hornets mid way through the second period as Sammon popped with an 88th minute winner. Watford 7th, Derby County 8th.
Leeds United blew Birmingham City in the Sunday game as the Yorkshire side ran out 4-0 winners at Elland Road. Goals from McCormack (18th min), Austin (33rd min), and a brace from Smith (45th & 74th mins) sealed the win, leaving the Blues looking over their shoulders. Leeds United 9th, Birmingham City 20th.
Blackburn Rovers slipped to an unexpected defeat while Charlton Athletic helped themselves to a handy 1-0 win over their hosts at Ewood Park. Church popped up with the only goal of the game in the 7th minute. Blackburn Rovers 11th, Charlton Athletic 19th.
Barnsley managed to hoist themselves off the foot of the table, but remain in the drop zone despite a 3-2 win over Middlesbrough at Oakwell. First half goals from McCourt (26th min), and a brace from O'Brady (41st and 43rd mins - the latter from the penalty spot) game the home side an unheard of 3-0 lead. The points were almost thrown away as Adomah bagged 82nd and 84th minute goals to set up an interesting finish, but a comeback was not forthcoming. Barnsley 22nd, Middlesbrough 16th.
After 11 matches, Sheffield Wednesday remain the only side in the Championship yet to record victory as they chalked up their 7th draw of the campaign against Bolton Wanderers at The Reebok. Beckford gave the home side the lead in the 16th minute, with a Baptiste own goal ensuring a share of the spoils 10 minutes later. Bolton Wanderers 21st, Sheffield Wednesday 23rd.
The other game played this weekend saw Yeovil Town (24th) and Brighton & Hove Albion (15th) play out a 0-0 draw at Huish Park.
