Championship Ups & Downs

Leicester City will claim the Championship title on Tuesday evening if they win their match away at Bolton Wanderers, but that could be academic if Burnley fail to win their match against Wigan Athletic. A Burnley win will guarantee the Clarets automatic promotion.

The battle for the play-offs is shaping up nicely. Derby County are assured of a play-off place, while QPR need a point to be sure, with Wigan Athletic pretty much certain too. This leaves Brighton & Hove Albion, Reading, Ipswich Town, AFC Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and Watford in with a mathematical shout of the final play-of spot.

At the foot of the table, Yeovil Town have got to win against Huddersfield Town at Huish Park to give themselves a glimour of hope of remaining in the Championship. Anything less will almost certainly condemn them to dropping back to League One after one season up.

Barnsley are in a similar position as they need to gain victory over Derby County at the iPro Stadium to give themselves a chance of staging another escape for the second successive season.

The picture is less clear for Blackpool, Charlton Athletic, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall and Birmingham City who are all battling to avoid the drop to League One.
