Charlton Atheltic Reaction - Cherries II

The win was undoubtedly a special moment for skipper Simon Francis, who was up against his former employers.

Speaking after the win,Francis was quoted on BBC Radio Solent as saying: "It was a real honour and I didn’t know I would be captain until I got to the ground. It was special to do it against my former club and there were other factors that made it special too, with my little girl being mascot and playing against my brother-in-law (Mark Gower). But it was great to get the win. I think it was a little bit cagey as you would expect for the first game of the season, but I thought we settled after that and created some good chances. I thought Wes Thomas and Lewis Grabban were great up front. Wes worked so hard and Grabbs was brilliant in the position he took up. They will only get better by playing together and that’s the same for the rest of the team. It’s disappointing to start the season with a few injuries, but they aren’t long term and if we can perform how we did today, then I think we will have a good chance".
