Speaking after the match, manager Chris Powell was quoted as saying on the defeat: "You never want to get off to a losing start but it’s one of those things that has happened. It was an outstanding winner to be honest. I was disappointed because maybe we should have closed him down, but our response was good. We had one cleared off the line which would have given us that equaliser but it wasn’t to be. A superb equalising goal by Yann got us back in the game but we were beaten by a magic strike on the day. It’s disappointing to lose 2-1 but we move on".
