Cheltenham Town Reaction - Cherries

Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, manager Kevin Bond is quoted as saying: "We just weren't able to defend a set-piece. It's happened too many times and cost us lots of points. We had a number of chances and should have had the game wrapped up. It was a major blow to concede at the death and was hugely disappointing because we threw away two points. We did more than enough to win the match. The lads competed well, scored twice and created a number of other chances. But if you can't do the job until the final whistle then you will get what you deserve and we certainly did. Cheltenham knew there was still everything to play for at 2-1 and threw everything at us late in the game. Although I always felt we were vulnerable, I didn't necessarily see the goal coming and thought we were as likely to get a third as they were to get an equaliser. We should have done better with the chances we had and should have been more clinical in front of goal. It's as important to finish chances as it is to stop them at the back. If we had got a third goal, it would have been game over and we had a number of chances to do that. We've got to be more ruthless in front of goal and we've certainly got to be more ruthless defensively when it comes to dealing with threats and set-pieces. It was a massive two points lost. They were in the bag and we gave them away".
