On the match, Eddie Howe is quoted as saying: "It is something we are looking forward to. As the club has grown and with the success we have had in recent years so have our pre-season tours. Jeff has a really good tie-up with Philadelphia and has some good contacts there. This has been brought together by him and we are grateful to Philadelphia for all the help they have given us in allowing us to use their facilities. The game will be special because making sure we get pre-season right is going to be so important. MLS is growing all the time and is one of the biggest emerging leagues in world football".

Then on July 25th, the Cherries head to France to take on FC Nantes, returning home to face Cardiff City on July 31st. Also in their intinary is trip to Germany to face Hoffenheim in August.

On the friendlies that have been announced, manager Eddie Howe is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "Our training camps and games abroad in the past couple of years have been really beneficial and have had a big impact on us having good seasons. Now we are in the Premier League, the opposition we will be playing during pre-season will be slightly different. Usually, we are the ones going to Premier League clubs asking for friendlies and this will be a new experience for us. We want to get the most difficult pre-season we can in terms of the opposition but we will still be out and about visiting one or two local teams".
