AFC Bournemouth have signed Marvin Bartley, a competitive midfielder, who has previously played for Hampton & Richmond in the Ryman League last season.

The 21-year old has signed a one year deal following a successful recent trial at Dean Court.

Bartley is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "Everything has happened so quickly but I'm absolutely delighted to have been given this chance with Bournemouth. My employers have been right behind me all the way and I can't thank them enough. I've got to ring them tomorrow morning to hand in my notice. I've been fitting double glazing for about nine months and also worked in a few sports shops but I think being a pro footballer is going to be my best job! I had a couple of reserve games and trained with them for a week but it all fell apart when Martin Allen left. But his assistant Adrian Whitbread kindly recommended me to Kevin Bond and I was invited here for a trial. I love it here. I know it's going to be very hard trying to break into the first team because there are so many good players here. But I believe in my own ability and I won't fail through a lack of trying".
