Cherries To Raid The Terra's?

On Tuesday the Weymouth manager, Garry Hill, and his assistant were dismissed by Club Chairman Matyn Harrison, and now the entire first team squad at The Wessex Stadium has been put up for sale. The reason for this drastic move is said to be around giving Weymouth a sustainable future.

This has prompted speculation that Kevin Bond could be about to make a move for the Terra's captain, Ben Smith. The midfielder has scored 10 goals this season in 26 League (24) and Cup (2) appearances.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Bond is quoted as saying: "I would certainly be very interested in taking Ben Smith from Weymouth. He's a good player. I know he's somebody that Garry Hill thinks an awful lot of because he's just signed a new contract (until June 2009). Garry would not have wanted to lose him under any circumstances, but he's no longer there and the club appears to be going in a new direction. He scores goals from midfield, he's got bags of energy and is somebody I would like to bring to Bournemouth".
