Cherries Youth Knocked Out By Bolton

They may be out of the competition, but Cherries Youth supremo, Joe Roach is proud of his charges, being quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "I’ve got to be disappointed. I thought we had a great opportunity to take a decent scalp against a Premier League side. We probably got caught thinking we were going to be okay because they didn’t look very zippy about the pitch. They weren’t moving the ball as quickly as we thought and we almost relaxed a little bit. We could have taken the game by the scuff of the neck in the first half and put a bit more pace into it. After they had gone down to 10 men, it was difficult to find our spare player because of the way we set up. I was disappointed with the two headed goals, especially the second one from the corner, although Matt Oldring said he was blocked. I just felt we could have picked our moments to play a little better. But I’m pleased and proud because the lads have worked tremendously hard and their attitude has been brilliant. They’re all very despondent as well. At Bolton’s level, they are probably a little more precise about what they do so we’ve got to learn from it. But I thought they were there for the taking in the first half and maybe it was a bit of naivety from us. I’ve got to applaud the lads for the way they tried to go about it. This experience will stay with them for the rest of their lives. The Premier League is a different world but that’s the void and we are what we are".
