Continuity Required

Cherries Chairman, Eddie Mitchell, is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as wanting to judge the caretaker partnership of Lee Bradbury and Steve Fletcher on committment and work ethic as opposed to results: "If people want to apply then fine. But I am settled in what I am doing and believe we have found a way forward to keep the club as stable as possible and to continue Eddie’s good work. Although we have already had numerous people enquiring about the job, I don’t want to undo the good work Eddie did and I want continuity. If we keep going about things in the same way then I think we stand the best chance of succeeding. Lee and Steve are both very pleased with the prospect of having the opportunity and we are going to give it three or four games to see how it goes. We are not going to rush into anything and, if things pan out okay, then we would look further down the line. They have been appointed on a caretaker basis with the prospect of it becoming full-time. I want to give them an opportunity. They have both been very loyal and good servants to the club. People don’t always have to be proven to be successful and everybody has to start somewhere. They might not like the job or they might not want the commitment. If things don’t work out for whatever reason, they have promised to be honest and would step aside to continue with their respective playing careers. If they are prepared to put the work in, the job could be theirs for a period of time".
