Eddie Withdrawn From Shrewsbury Game - The Reason

Before the LDV Vans Trophy match against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday evening, Eddie Howe was seen warming up as if to start the game.

By the time kick off came, he was no where to be seen as Derek Holmes started in his place.

The reason for his absence was revealed in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as a precaution against aggravating his knee. He is quoted in the paper as saying that: "My knee just felt a little bit sore in the warm-up so we decided to not risk it as a precaution. I have had so many games lately and with all the travelling we have done, I just think my knee was telling me it needed a little bit of a rest. The last thing I want to do is play when I shouldn't and do something serious to it".

He should be fit to make the trip to Blackpool on Saturday.
