Eddie's Confidence In Eddie

With the Football League turning the screw (again), with a tightening of the transfer embargo, manager Eddie Howe has praised chairman Eddie Mitchell in an interview with the Bournemouth Evening Echo, being quoted as saying: "I don’t think people realise the mess the club was in when they took over. It’s easy from the outside to criticise when you don’t know the facts and don’t know how difficult and how much of a struggle it has been to get to where we are now. The number of hours and amount of effort that a lot of people have put in to get this club not only standing again but moving forward is considerable and nobody should underestimate the job Eddie Mitchell and his board have done. There are going to be little setbacks. They are human and have never tried to be anything they aren’t. They have got the club’s best interests at heart and that is surely all the supporters want to see. I don’t think you can criticise them in any way, shape or form for anything they have done".

On the embargo, Howe went on to say: "It’s difficult for us. The chairman and the board have worked tirelessly to try to correct the problems from the previous regime but, sometimes, things have been put in our way. It’s certainly not ideal when you are trying to prepare a team. The Football League are only doing their job but we’re trying to do ours and it’s a difficult scenario and one that we would like to see an end to. But they are looking after their interests and those of all the other clubs in the league".
