FA Cup Prize Fund Increased (marginally)!!

This year will be the third year in which the FA Cup Prize Fund has been dolling out money to Clubs who win through to the next round. In the first year, we collected £20k for a first round win, £30k for a second round win and £50k for a third round win.

Then that was cut last season such that a first round win would command just £12.5k, and a second round win would net just £15k. The reduction aimed at the Second and Third Division Clubs seemed harsh to say the least, given that the monies for winning matches in the other rounds had not changed.

This season though, there is a change. Although a first round win will net £12.5k (no change), the FA web site shows that a second win will net all of £18k (up £3000 on last season!!!!). Still well down on the £30k they used to pay out.

With AFC Bournemouth's well publicised financial problems, let's hope we have a decent cup run in at least one of the cup competitions this season.
