Far East Links Now?

In an interview in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Sutton is quoted as saying: "When I was international community director at Everton, I visited Thailand, China, Malaysia, the USA and quite a few countries in Europe to try to take the Everton way into those countries. We had a fantastic programme in Thailand because Chang became our major sponsor. I went out there for three weeks and whittled the programme down to 5,000 boys and we eventually brought three over for a year's stay. It proved to be very successful and Chang were absolutely delighted. I've got some good contacts now so what we're going to try to do is roll out an international programme and take Bournemouth into the Far East. That's going to be one of my aims here".

On his new role, he says: "The role involves working alongside Kevin with the first team, overseeing the youth department with Joe Roach and also having an active interest and trying to bring new programmes to the community trust with Steve Cuss so it's a wide brief. The potential here is absolutely fantastic. One of our first aims is to get out of League Two and back into League One. Ultimately, within three to five years, we want to be playing in the Championship".
