Grimsby Town Reaction - Cherries II

Last updated : 27 April 2009 By Bournemouth Co-Ordinator
Speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, current Chairman, Paul Baker, was quoted as saying: "It was a bitter-sweet day in some respects. I was passionate about wanting us to win and was here to make sure AFC Bournemouth did what they needed to do. I'm ecstatic and hugely pleased for Eddie, Jason and the players. We've had a tough season and what they've achieved is the greatest of Great Escapes. I have already sat down with Eddie and Jason and told them I was in a position to offer them new contracts. They were of the opinion that the new owners might want to come in and change the manager. I told them I didn't think any new owner was going to come into this football club and want to change the manager after seeing what they had achieved. We've spoken about it and had tentative talks. I know they desperately want to stay so we'll keep talking".
