The former AFC Bournemouth trainee has rejoined Sean O'Driscoll, at the Keepmoat Stadium, in a deal thought to be worth in the region of £200,000 and 3 years in length.

Hayter made 344 first team appearances for the Cherries, with another 63 from the bench. Since signing in 1996, Hayter scored 107 goals in his Dean Court career.

Speaking on the Donny Rovers web site, Hayter is quoted as saying: "I was impressed with what Sean had to say and the stadium. I know two of the lads and spoke to Stocky before signing to get an insight into the club. The biggest decision was about uprooting my family to come north".

Former Cherries boss, O'Driscoll is quoted as saying: "We are delighted to get him because it is hard to get clubs to let go of proven strikers. He will make us stronger by adding another dimension to the strikers".
