Hollands Out For Three To Five Weeks

Danny Hollands is to miss the start of the new season having torn a cartilage in his left knee.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Hollands is quoted as saying: "I started to feel it a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure why it came on, it could be just down to wear and tear. I stopped training for a week because it was swollen and it didn't go down. I went for the scan yesterday and they told me I had a little tear in my cartilage. I could be out for between three to five weeks but should know more after I have seen the specialist. Although I've probably got to have a minor operation, in some ways, it's good news because I thought it might be longer. But three to five weeks is bad enough because you don't want to be out at all. This is the second year on the trot that I've missed the start of the season. I had to sit in the stand for the first couple of games last year because I had a problem with my hamstring. It's frustrating because you have to play catch-up when you are injured during pre-season. I know there is going to be a lot of hard work ahead but I'm already looking forward to getting my fitness back. I'm determined to get back as quickly as possible and try to win back my place in the team".
