Howe On Ritchie

Naturally Eddie Howe was somewhat pleased at being able to capture Matt Ritchie from League One rivals Swindon Town on a 3.5 year deal.

The Cherries boss was quoted on the Clubs Official Web Site as saying: "I think it sends out a statement of our ambition and what we are trying to create here. He is someone that we have been watching for a long time now. I have known him a number of years and I have always admired him as a footballer and as a person, so I think it’s a really good signing not just for now but for the future as well. We want to take players that are able to perform at this level now but are able to perform and get better with us - I think Matt certainly fits that criteria. He’s got experience as well - he’s got games behind him and he’s a scorer of goals as well so hopefully we will see the best of him here. As a character and a person I think it’s a really good fit for us as well. Matt’s a great lad, he’s determined to succeed, he’s got real determination to play at the highest level possible and hopefully he can do this with us".
