Having not heard of Neil Young for a while, he has come back to prominence again as news that he had an operation on a recurring problem in his left ankle. It is reported the operation went well and should allow Neil to make a full recovery.

Carl Fletcher's hamstring injury is said to be touch and go for the visit of Port Vale.

Meanwhile, along the coast at Fratton Park, Harry Redknapp's first signing, Eddie Howe, is about to make a long awaited return to playing in a blue shirt having had most of his Fratton Park career blighted by injury. He is due to make a return in a reserve match against Derby County on Jan 13th at Havant's West Leigh Park.
