After just one season up in the Championship, Scunthorpe United return to the third tier of English football. Their 2-0 defeat against play-off chasing Crystal Palace, at Selhurst Park, was enough to confirm the drop. Soares (21st mins) and Morrison (39th min) nailed the final nail in the coffin for Scunny. Crystal Palace 6th, Scunthorpe United 23rd.

Colchester United have also confirmed their place in League One after two seasons at the higher level. Their faite was confirmed in a relegation 6-pointer at the Walker Stadium against Leicester City. The Essex side had taken a 76th minute lead before Hume popped up with an 89th leveller to keep the home sides hopes of beating the drop alive. Leicester City 22nd, Colchester United 24th.

Joining Scunthorpe United and Colchester United will be one of Leicester City, Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton or Blackpool.
