Jul 16 AFC Bournemouth 2-5 Charlton Athletic Att: 3907

On a hot July afternoon, it was hardly surprising that both sides laboured in the heat at Dean Court.

The first half scoring came in 5 first half minutes. The first goal went to Charlton as Ambrose fired in to the top left corner of the net with Stewart left stretching in the 22nd minute. Two minutes later Hayter equalised from the penalty spot, even though the home crowd were calling for Neil Young to take the kick. Then Francis Jeffers restored the Premiership sides advantage in the 26th minute with a carbon copy of their first goal.

Immediately after the re start, Rodrigues, fresh on as a sub, effectively set up Foley to head home at the far post (amazing for someone so short!).

Parity didn't last too long as Jeffers netted his second in the 50th minute, which was quickly followed by Bent in the 54th. The final nail in the Cherries coffin for the pre-season friendly went to Matt Holland who blasted in from distance in the 84th minute!
