July 22 AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Southampton

Our friends up the road took an early lead when Ormerod headed home following a long Delap throw.

With Bournemouth trying to sort out the left hand side positions, O'Driscoll started with Purches at left back. Sadly he didn't last too long after a late challenge from notorious Prutton after just 10 minutes saw Purches stretchered off the pitch. A scan revealed medial ligament damage - so much for a friendly!

Encouragingly, the Bournemouth back four were tested, and dealt with the threat from the Championship side. On the rare occassion they did break through, Moss was equal to the challenge.

After the break came the usual mass substitutions, which enabled Bournemouth to swap things around. This time the back 3 were equal to the Southampton front line.

Bournemouth youngster Coutts impressed as he filled a right wing back role. Several crosses caused problems for the Southampton back line which found Steve Fletcher. One chance missed, and the other cleared off the line.

The Bournemouth equaliser came in injury time as another Coutts cross wasn't dealt with allowing trialist Kirk Hudson to fire home.
