Having been impressed with Michael Rankine, manager Jimmy Quinn is quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "There are one or two decent players about if you get the right ones. You've got to do your homework and make sure you get the right characters. do a lot of background work and don't take people off recommendations unless it's someone I trust 110 per cent. I make sure I watch them myself and find out whether they're good trainers and I even look down to their home life as well. I look for players with appetite who want to do well. If they have got quality to add to that - even better. There are some very good players in non-league football. Hundreds of players, like Ian Wright and Les Ferdinand, all came out of non-league clubs and went on to have really good careers. It's about spotting the right ones".
